Maui: February 8, 2016; Road to Hana, catching a glimpse of Molokai

Ke'anae, on the road to Hana, Maui. Photos, let alone my ability on the cellphone camera do not do this justice. The black rock is formed from the lava. It is beautiful, and the ocean is rough.
I'm going to be in Molokai in one week. I asked a tour guide today (a transplant from Buffalo NY) and two Native Hawaiians on the ship about the place. None have ever visited Molokai. So the island, supposedly the most Hawaiian of the Hawaiian islands, is taking on another layer of mystery.

On a stop on the road to Hana, we could see Molokai in the distance, which is apparently really rare, especially during what should be the rainy season. If I had not already booked my flight, I might have chickened out....
