Photo(s) of the day: December 23, 2015; Morgan Library

We're moving into the holiday season, and I have other things to do other than take pictures.  There's stuff like eating, contemplating my life, being sad, but sometimes being happy.... you know, holiday stuff.

I said no more New York photos, but here are some pictures from the Morgan Library in New York City that are appropriate for the holidays.

The Morgan Library houses the collection of manuscripts, prints, and I guess what I would call paper ephemera that used to be owned by J.P. Morgan, who was one rich guy.  On his death, his son made J.P. Morgan Sr's library a public museum.

Every Christmas, there is a special manuscript put on display, shown below.

This is the Library Room, which would have been, I think, J.P. Morgan's private library at the time.  That's pretty elaborate for one guy's private study, basically.  The Morgan Museum and Library, New York City.  December 17, 2015.
This is the only manuscript of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, on display annually at the Morgan from mid-November to the beginning of January.  Every year, I understand, it is turned to a different page.  This year, it is page 59, the meeting of Scrooge and the Spirit of Christmas-yet-to-come.  The Morgan Museum and Library, New York City.  December 17, 2015.
